History of icam

1979
icam was founded in response to the emergence of architectural museums as distinctive institutions. The founding members established the organisation on 22 August 1979, during icam's first conference in Helsinki. icam is governed by a Charter and set of Statutes. The title 'confederation' recognises the wide range of institutions which fulfil the icam statutes, including museums, centres, archives, collections and libraries.
