This workshop reflected the everyday lives of soldiers living within the Barracks. Often, only the external impressions of a building are recorded – we achieved the opposite here, with the soldiers taking part documenting the building from a personal perspective.

Overview / Job Purpose

The purpose of the post is to administer and manage the British Architectural Library’s Drawings & Archives Collections. Responsibilities include all aspects of collections management and development, use and day-to-day running of the collections, overseeing cataloguing and conservation projects, and safety of the collections. The job holder has particular responsibility for the development, management and preservation of digital archives, the historic Archives Collection, and the development of the RIBA Archive. The job holder also has managerial responsibilities.

The focus of this issue of icamprint is on the 'market' for private archives. After all, collecting and managing the documentation of architecture history to conform to academic and scientific standards is a complex business, and a core task for most icam members. In this context, whether or not the 'originals' by star architects have an artistic value on the market is only superficially a decisive issue.
