Manuel Blanco appointed as Director of the National Museum of Architecture and Urbanism

On May 7, the Minister, María Antonia Trujillo, announced Manuel Blanco appointment as the Museum’s Director of the National Museum of Architecture and Urbanism. The museum is an initiative of the Ministry of Housing and will have a decentralized structure, with three sites distributed throughout our country.

Eva-Maria Barkhofen has been the ICAM Germany spokesperson since 1999, and was unanimously re-elected at the general meeting held at the Institut für Regionalentwicklung und Strukturplanung in Erkner, Germany, in 2006.
Deputies: Dr. Wolfgang Voigt, Deutsches-Architektur-Museum Frankfurt/M and Prof. Dr. Annemarie Jaeggi, Bauhaus-Archiv Berlin.

The Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona (born 1929) is one of the great names of South American architecture together with Luis Barragan and Oscar Niemeyer. In his youth he lived in Paris, where he also worked in the studio of Le Corbusier. The majority of his work is in Colombia. In 2003 he was awarded the Alvar Aalto Medal in Finland.

The architecture of the Weimar Republic period in Legnica, one of the most important towns in the Lower Silesia is still hardly known to historians. A lot of research was done on the architecture of nearby but much larger Wrocław with its works by Hans Poelzig, Max Berg or Erich Mendelsohn. Within the framework of the Gau:di European Project (Governance, Architecture and Urbanism: a Democratic Interaction, a research programme supported by the European Union under the Culture 2000 Programme), a conference is being organised on the long-term preservation and use of architects’ digital archives, to be held in Paris, at the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine and at the Institut national d’histoire de l’art.
