You then have 6 hours to claim your ticket(s). \nAs part of the Disclosing Architecture programme\, Het Nieuwe Instituut is organising the Disclosing Futures – Rethinking Heritage conference on 2 and 3 November. Over a total of six years\, Disclosing Architecture is working on the visibility and sustainable accessibility of the National Collection for Dutch Architecture and Urban Planning\, which Het Nieuwe Instituut manages. The programme\, busy in recent years with the restoration\, preservation and digitisation of a large part of the collection\, has also focused on developing new methodologies for a more inclusive and multivocal collection policy and new (digital) networks for improving accessibility. All this has been made possible by the one-time investment of the Ministry of Education\, Culture and Science (OCW). \n\nMore information from the conference website\n \nThe innovative power of heritage \nThe conference Disclosing Futures – Rethinking Heritage focuses on the innovative power of heritage\, which is partly the result of technological developments\, but mainly of questioning current collecting practices. A collection is not a neutral representation of the past; rather\, it acquires meaning through the interpretation and interaction of new generations of users. This means that heritage must\, by definition\, be future-oriented. \nTwo days of inspiration and knowledge sharing \nOn 2 and 3 November we will explore the reorientation of heritage’s role and innovation as a precondition for sustainable collection management. We will discuss these themes with our partners and fellow heritage professionals\, based on the results of the Disclosing Architecture programme and initiatives from other (inter)national institutes. \nThe conference is aimed at heritage sector practitioners and their colleagues in partnerships with (national) trade organisations\, the government or related sectors\, national and international. In addition\, designers\, students and educators are cordially invited to take part. \nThe conference features a rich selection of topics\, which will be explored in discussions\, keynotes\, workshops\, walk & talks and speed dates. Themes include artistic research in archives\, the revaluation of cultural heritage\, modern restoration techniques\, 3D digitisation\, access to archives via virtual spaces\, linked open data (LOD)\, archiving born digital material\, recognising photographic processes\, and the launch of a new collection platform.
