CEPT Archives

CEPT Archives, founded in 2013, is one of the first initiatives in India set up to archive information related to architecture, planning, design, and allied disciplines, broadly based under the subjects of built environment, design, and culture. Dedicated to collecting, recording and disseminating information, the Archive actively engages in different archival activities and the work archived here, is open to students, scholars, professionals, curators, and other users for reference and research. The archive promotes public interaction, institutional collaborations, and digital services, to provide and sustain a unique environment for critical inquiry and scholarly exchange.

Collection
The collections at the Archives are divided between material acquired from the CEPT University called CEPT Repository, and material acquired from independent practices across the country called Professional Practitioners. These collections are supported by Oral Histories i.e., audio-visual recordings of interviews of eminent practitioners from the said collection. Oral histories aim at recording the memories of valuable and varied experiences of professionals, which otherwise would go unrecorded and be lost in time. The other collection titled Special Collection represents emerging techniques of architectural representation, print culture, and evolving trends in the field of architecture and allied disciplines. The Archives have digitised and processed over 60,000 records across 51 collections that include, but are not limited to drawings, sketches, negatives, photographs, books, fine art, audio recordings, letters, reports, site notes, architectural models, drawing and draughting objects.
