Architectural Association School of Architecture

The AA Collections, consisting of the Library and Archives, are research resources of international importance. In addition to supporting the School and members, the research facilities are available to scholars and academics from around the world.

Collection
The AA Archives documents the AA’s educational, cultural and organisational history and holds over 12,000 drawings and 1015 cubic feet of other materials, including models and textual records. Additional, discrete collections include the archive of the Royal Architectural Museum and the personal archive of Otto Koenigsberger. The AA Archive’s photographic holdings include an important collection of c20,000 architectural lantern slides, compiled primarily in the 1920s and 1930s by AA students, staff and members. Other collections of architectural images include photographs by F. R. Yerbury, Eric de Maré, Reyner Banham and Robin Evans, as well as online lectures and lecture archives, a film collection, and schoolwork and school life collections.


Library Holdings
The collection in the Library contains approximately 53,000 volumes on the history, theory and practice of architecture, contemporary architectural design, interior design and supplementary subjects.The Library also holds rare and early works dating from the late 15th to the early 19th century, and special collections on the modern movement, international exhibitions, and the history of architectural education at the AA. Additionally, the Library holds a selection of AA graduate school theses.
