ATLAS is a laboratory for archival research and creation based at the Faculty of Architecture, Art, and Design of Diego Portales University in Santiago – Chile. Its work focuses on the study, activation, and dissemination of knowledge generated through and around the university’s architecture, design, and art archives. Atlas approaches the archive not as a repository of the past, but as an active site for the production of new ideas and for reflection on these practices and their historical and cultural transformations. In this sense, it not only researches the existing collections, organized into personal and institutional holdings, but also collaborates with other institutions, both locally and internationally. Through academic and public programs, it promotes the study of these archives and their contribution to disciplinary and cultural development in a broader sense. Furthermore, Atlas pursues the ongoing expansion of its holdings, with the aim of enriching the university’s general archive. This work is carried out from a perspective attentive to the particularities of the creative disciplines and the types of documents that constitute them, thus establishing the archive as a platform for critical inquiry.
