University of California, Berkeley – Environmental Design Archives

The Environmental Design Archives is a non-profit, self-supporting research unit housed in the College of Environmental Design at UC Berkeley. One of the largest archival repositories of its kind west of the Mississippi, the EDA holds more than 200 collections that document the work of the San Francisco Bay region’s historically significant architects, landscape architects, planners, and designers.

Focus: Northern California, some national and international collections: architecture, landscape California Consist of: architectural drawings, both individual and complete office archives; project files, photographs, personal papers, faculty papers, lectures, writings, presentation drawings; prints; models; building fragments; contemporary photographs; medals; portraits; drawing office furniture Strengths: complete records of architects and landscape architects. Collection is accessible through finding aids, project lists, catalogues and inventories, electronic finding aids on website, and through Online Archive of California. Reproductions can be made Conservation facilities are available on the university campus.
