AzW Architekturzentrum Wien

AzW is the Austrian museum of architecture. Based in Vienna, it has the most comprehensive and significant collection of Austrian architecture of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, including many bequests and estates that, with their wealth of documents, also provide background information on social, economic, and technical history.

Collection
Focus: national. Consists of: architectural drawings, both individual drawings and complete archives; documents, correspondence, models, photographs (contemporary and newly commissioned), slides. Strengths: Contemporary Austrian architecture; Friedrich Achleitner Archive (20,000 building records and 20,000 slides). Collection partly accessible through computerized catalogue (URL above) Photographic reproductions available. Institution has no conservation laboratory. Library Holdings
The librarycontains 16 000 titles with architects’ biographies, exhibition catalogues and publications on the subject of architecture as well as some 100 architectural journals from all over the world. As a special service in the library, articles can be called up worldwide with the aid of the Iconda data base. With this comprehensive range the Architekturzentrum Wien provides the basis for public research as well as gratifying browsing. Information: library@azw.at
