Consists of: complete archives of restoration architects, individual architectural drawings (approx. 150,000), prints, state archive documents, building fragments and samples of old building materials, photographs (approx. 450,000; 70% own negatives), slides, topographical drawings (17th-20th century), digital documentation.
Strengths: photographs, drawings and other documents on Dutch architectural monuments.
Collection partly accessible through computer and inventories.
Drawings can be reproduced; photographs can be digitized and/or printed.
Department has a team of photographers and a conservation laboratory.
Library Holdings
Holdings: approximately 55,000 volumes and over 500 current subscriptions; library focuses on: ethics, organisation and practice of conservation and restoration of buildings, structures, landscapes, parks and gardens (national and international); Netherlands topography; former Dutch colonies and settlements abroad; historical building technology, architectural history, urban planning, and garden history.
Library contains an old and rare book collection (early 16th-20th cent.) of approx. 2000 titles.
